  • 5/22/07 (9:47 PM): My first day of work was great. I met a lot of people and everyone seems very happy to have me on board. Let's just hope I live up to their expectations! This morning I had a bit of a cry though. I woke up, got ready for work, stepped outside and my car was gone. It had been towed because I didn't have a parking pass... didn't know I needed one. There are reserved spots, which I wasn't in, but apparently you need a pass for the other spaces too. There visitor spaces way out in front, but I don't drive by them, so I didn't notice. There is one tiny sign out by the road, next to the huge complex sign, that states that you need a permit, but who would notice that! So, I didn't have the password for the internet yet... I called the number and the guy barely spoke English and I couldn't understand a word he said. So then, I called my Mom to help and the tears came. Luckily, Amanda, one of my new roommates, came to save me and took me to my car... and, I got hit on by the guy when I went to pick it up. Thanks buddy, just give me my car.

Second day on the job, late to work. However, my boss was really cool about it... she is so nice. I really like her. At my new job I have a cuffice (thanks Venno for the term), which is a combination of an office and a cubicle. Real walls and a doorway, just they don't go all the way to the ceiling and no door. Not the standard office space type. I've yet to decorate it, but it needs it. Everyone draw pictures and send them to me... I need reminders of the ones I love.

More about my living space... I have two roommates, Bethany and Amanda. Well, technically I have three, Bethany has a dog named Zelman. Zelman is being raised to be a service dog, probably a companion to someone in a wheel chair. So, come November I'll have to say good-bye to the sweetest Black Lab I think I've met. He's really chill, not hyper at all. But, we'll have another puppy to help move on. I came home today from work and already I have dog toys in my doorway. I guess Zelman wanted to make me feel welcome! I have the master bedroom in the apartment, so I have enough room (amazingly enough) for all my crap. My mom did a great job decorating. My family was such a huge help to me this weekend with the move (Thanks fam) and supporting me for this huge transition. I'm lucky to have them. I also have my own bathroom, which is nice. No cable here and I don't think I'm going to seek any out. I have internet and I can paint and read... we'll see how this works for me. So, that's the highlighted points. Best post I've had in a while... sorry, moving takes a lot of time. I'll be better at it. Maybe, if you are lucky, I might just take some photos for the next post. But, not tonight. Still re cooperating from the allergy attack I had from the mold growing in my storage unit. Sniff Sniff, cough cough... fun stuff.

  • 5/21/07 (7:35 AM): I made it! Here I am, typing from Virginia. I'm very tired. We packed and moved all my crap around and there is still more to do when I come home next weekend. I made my first visit to an IKEA, very exciting, I'll have to go back when I have more time. I start my new job today, I hope all goes well.

  • 5/3/07 (8:18 AM): So, the quest to move continues. My mom and I went last weekend to look at apartments. 7 apartments we checked out, 3 I would be willing to live in. My number 1 choice turned out to not work out. Her listing said rent was $700 and when we asked in person she said $700, then went I wrote to her, she said it was going to be $725... um, ok. I got her down to $715. Then, she wanted me to pay for the entire month of May, which, I'm only going to be there for 12 days in May. So, I let that place go. It makes me skeptical about living with someone who is like that. So, I called my second choice and they still have room for me. I feel really good about living with the two girls in the second place. I liked the first place because the kitchen was larger, I could have a cat, and could use my own furniture. But, I think it's more important to get along with my roommates! So, details still pending about sending deposit, etc., but hopefully this one will stick.

The big move will be May 19th (I think). I'm having a house party here to celebrate my departure, email me if you want to come and I'll send you the details. I have so much packing and so many loose ends to tie up, I just don't know how I will get it all done. Then again, I'm very efficient, so I'll find a way!
